29th June 2018
Today I received an email from the Woodland Trust that the application I made some months ago about getting some tree packs for the Scout Hut wood & boundary has been successful. We will be receiving them later in the year:
Medium Wild Harvest (105 saplings), Medium Wildlife (105 saplings), Medium Wild Wood (105 saplings), Small Copse (30 saplings)
Some will be planted in the existing wood but most will be used to replace the barbed wire fence along the west side of the site making a nice hedge, given time, for a host of wildlife.
Today, 29th June 2018, five large trees, a couple which were going to become dangerous, were felled. Many thanks to Liam Boughey and Mackrory & Sons, Nettlebed Sawmill, Highmoor, for their help with this.
All the saplings have now been planted and we are just waiting for Spring to arrived to see them burst into life after the Winter shutdown.
